Nafas Indonesia and DBS Foundation, together with Indonesian Youth Council for Tactical Changes (IYCTC) have launched a new white paper: "Closed Spaces, Open Risks: High Exposure to Air Pollution from Smoking Activities".

This study highlights how indoor smoking activities increase PM2.5 pollution, spreading harmful particles even into designated non-smoking areas, endangering the health of occupants.

Key findings from Bali and Yogyakarta:

  • The concentration of PM2.5 pollution can increase significantly in smoking rooms.
  • Pollutant particles from indoor smoking activities can spread to surrounding areas.
  • Indoor air conditions may pose greater risks due to higher exposure levels compared to outdoor air.

This initiative underscores the importance of public awareness regarding the health risks posed by indoor air pollution, particularly from smoking, and the need for data-driven policies to protect public health.
