The viral netflix show Squid Game has taken the internet by storm. Everywhere you go on the internet there is some meme or news related to the show.
Red Light, Green Light: When to stop and when to move
The first game of the show: Red Light, Green Light is a childhood game in South Korea where players need to cross the finish line in a certain amount of time but only when a huge automated doll is singing ‘green light’. When it stops, then players need to freeze like they would at a red traffic light. If the doll detects any motion, then a player is eliminated.
How does Squid Game’s Red Light, Green Light relate to air quality?
Just like the Red Light, Green Light game, we all need to know when the air around us is good or unhealthy for us to breathe in. That’s why Nafas is here to help you know when air quality is green (good) and when the air is red (unhealthy). Each of the outdoor air quality sensors on the map collect PM2.5, and convert that to the AQI Scale that was created by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
The scale does have 6 colors, but the ones that are most important for us are Red and Green.
Red Light: Unhealthy Air Quality For Everyone, Limit Time Outside
When the map lights up with the color red, this means that the air pollution outside is high and the air is unhealthy for everyone. According to nafas historical data, this frequently happens in the morning.
If you have opened the map and see red everywhere, here are some things that you can do:
- Avoid spending too much time outside (especially if you have kids)
- Move exercise indoors
- Close your windows and doors
- Turn on your purifier if you have one
Green Light: Good Air Quality, Move Around Outside All You Want!
Even in Jakarta there are days when all the map lights up in Green. This means that the air quality outdoors is good, and all activity outside is highly recommended.
According to nafas historical data, this frequently happens during days of high wind and rain.
If you have opened the map and see green everywhere, here are some things that you can do:
- Spend all of your time outside (if it’s not raining)
- Move all activities outdoors
- Open your windows and doors
- Turn off your purifiers
