Malang Grapples with Severe Pollution Days
Malang, a picturesque city nestled in the heart of East Java, is facing an alarming environmental crisis as it grapples with a severe pollution day. Residents woke up to hazy skies and a thick layer of smog that had descended upon the city, obscuring its usually vibrant landscapes. The PM2.5 levels have skyrocketed to unhealthy levels, posing significant risks to public health and the well-being of the community.
This graph depicts the rise of unhealthy hours in the Greater Malang Area between September and October 2023. In September, the city only had 66 unhealthy hours in the current period. However, in the next month, the hours peaked to 197 hours or equivalent to five days. This shows that the pollution rate is getting higher in the beautiful city.
